Lera Chenchevaya: Improve Your Photography

Lera Chenchevaya has worked hard to perfect her photography skills, and has taken advantage of her multiple international traveling opportunities to work on the best ways to take pictures and adequately capture the moment. Though she still considers herself a photography hobbyist, friends, family and colleagues often remark on the incredible strides she’s made as an amateur photographer, and often solicit her advice on ways to improve their own photo-capturing abilities.

Below, Lera Chenchevaya shares some simple and easy to follow tips to enhancing the quality of your photography skill.

Be Selective
It’s always fun, says Lera Chenchevaya, for a photographer to show off the rewards of their work. After all, why else would they take pictures? However, it’s easier to impress friends and family by first weeding through your shots, and selecting only the best for their viewing pleasure. Decide on which of your photos are the best, and only show those to the people you wish to display them to.

Turn Camera 90 Degrees
It may seem obvious to some, says Lera Chenchevaya, but the simple action of turning the camera on its side can be an amazing and easy way to enhance the quality of your photos. Often times the subject, such as a person, place or thing, will only fit into a “sideways” shot, and many times it’s these pictures that become the prized photos in your collection.

Better Frame Your Shot
An easy and simple method for better picture-taking, says Lera Chenchevaya, is better framing. Study your shot to determine how much background is really necessary to the picture, and how much focus and attention you really want to devote to the subject.
